Tell Your StoryWarning - this news article expired on 2016-03-25. Information may no longer be accurate or applicable

Stories are wonderful things - they have the power to entertain us, to inform us, and to inspire us. I love a good story. Stories are a vital part of the church and of church communications. Not just how we first started to follow Jesus, but how that decision continues to impact us as His disciples. Romans 12:12 says, "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." When God's people tell stories of hope, patience and prayer, amazing things can happen.

Rejoice in hope. Hope is a powerful thing. Testimonies about hope and perseverance show God's triumph over darkness and remind me that God is still on the throne. They give me the confidence that God will display His power in my life, too, because He is a good God.

Be patient in tribulation. Some of my favourite testimonies are the ones that aren't quite done yet. They are a work in progress. In the midst of trials, it is important to tell the story of how to serve God in the waiting, and to teach God's people what it means to be patient.

Be constant in prayer. When someone from the Calvary family shares a story about how God has answered their prayers, it reminds me to be persistent with my own prayers and to never give up trusting God for the outcome. My faith is strengthened and my love for God increases.

Psalm 107:2 says, "Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story." As people who are redeemed, we are to testify to what God has done and continues to do. God is at work, and we need to share His story and ours. It's my hope that things like print media, social media, our website and online sermons can help to communicate the story of Jesus and how He is at work at Calvary. We have a great church and we serve a wonderful Saviour. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so!
