Do you have a summer bucket list? I recently read someone’s list and it started me thinking about my own plans. I tried to recall one of the best things I had done in summers past, or something my kids really enjoyed. Our family's vacations to Florida definitely top the list, but oftentimes it was the simple things that brought us joy. It could be planning a hike or walk somewhere new, spending all afternoon at the pool, road trips, going to the market, eating s’mores by a campfire, mini golf, telling stories and laughing together.
Summer tends to give us more time outside and the opportunity to change our routines. We can unwind and connect with family and friends. Everyone stays up a little later, the kids are busy at sports and camps, and there is lots of fresh air! Making summer memories, whatever your age or stage of life, is something we can all carry with us.
I appreciate that God allows us a season of summer.
I’m thankful that we can find rest from our normal schedules and find joy in other activities. Somehow the sunshine and splashes of colour have a way of lifting our thoughts and getting us moving.
For June I wanted to focus on some Bible verses around joy and thankfulness.
Psalm 107:1 “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.”
Ephesians 5:20 “Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalm 71:23 “My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed.”
I invite you to share some of your favourite summer activities. I would love to add some new ideas to our family’s summer bucket list or hear some of your best memories.
God is good!
