As summer comes to a close we see that there is still a lot to be excited for in the upcoming year. With so many new ministries kicking off and ministries that we have done in the past being re-launched or re-vamped. There is so much potential to see the Lord move in amazing ways in and through His church here at Calvary.
God loves it when we depend on Him and He wants us to be dependant on Him. So easily we can get caught thinking that if I do this, this and this the right way and in the right order then the ministry will be successful. But that's not necessarily the way God works – we can't change and transform hearts in our own strength and power, only God can.
That's why in the midst of all the excitement and fun of a new ministry year, we must not forget about the need to be in prayer for Calvary and all of its ministries. Jesus says in Matthew 7:7, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." We need to pray with the faith that God is going to answer our prayers and, not only that, He loves to answer our prayers! As we see our prayers answered in accordance with His will, we come to trust and depend on Him more.
There is a prayer night happening this Sunday night at 6:30pm where we will pray for our people, our ministries, and our impact in the community. I urge you to come out to this and be a part of praying for what the Lord is doing here in Burlington through Calvary.
Matthew 18:20 says, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."
Please pray! For we know that nothing ultimately good will happen here at Calvary apart from the work of the Lord.
