A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to the Outcry concert. To be honest, I was tagging along with my eldest daughter for her birthday, and it had been a while since I had seen any Christian artists in concert. What struck me right away was the gathering of people – more than eleven thousand people of varying ages – there to worship and sing and to be refreshed.
At the beginning they asked people to shine a light if they had ever been influenced by the local church in any way. Maybe a Sunday school teacher, a pastor, a volunteer, or an after school program that made an impact. It was neat to see the room light up and to see that we are part of something great. All the local churches are working together in different ways for the purpose of furthering His kingdom.
Throughout the evening, I would often pause, look around and think that we need to remind people that there is hope and strength that can be found in God. With our busy lives, our own personal distractions, it is easy to lose sight and feel overcome at times, but we are loved!
Since I was young, I have always loved Romans 8:38-39:
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
These verses always reminded me that God is bigger. He is greater than anything we may encounter or need!
