We sang this song on Sunday for the first time. I've been wanting to share this song with the church for a few months now, so I thought I'd share a little bit about my interaction with it.
I first heard the song a few months ago when I was reading through 1 Corinthians in the summer. I was feeling particularly convicted by verse 3 of chapter 10: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that can endure it.”
When I'm tempted in any manner, I find myself frequently wondering why God would put me into such a situation where I have a hard time controlling myself. In reality, I can't control myself. I need to have faith that God will be faithful to me and remember that he has always been. I don't need to worry about not being able to control myself in temptation; God is right there with me, fighting it, and it's not more than I can handle with him.
