Why, hello there! I am a new-ish face around Calvary and I have been asked to introduce myself. Talking is something I tend to do a lot of, so I am more than happy to say a few words in the least pretentious and most awkward way possible! My name is Patrick Shay. I am a musician by day and a heavy sleeper by night. I spent five years of my life at Heritage College & Seminary learning a lot and growing in so many ways. I am also so excited and humbled to say that I am the new Worship Director here at Calvary Burlington.

To say how truly blessed I am that God would be able to use me here at Calvary is an understatement. I am going to choose to be transparent and say that my walk with God has been a difficult journey. I have struggled financially, emotionally, and spiritually and I have become uncomfortably familiar with the term ‘rock bottom.’ I have been broken by the sin in my life and I have turned my back on God on more than one occasion. My life has felt meaningless and my ability to move forward has been halted.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” - James 1:2-4 ESV

I am also a product of grace. I have seen and felt the love of Christ pick me up out of my own grave and set me on a new path. I have walked miles on my own and found no one, but been led merely a few feet by God and been surrounded by the arms of a Father. I am new and empowered with the love of Christ. I have done nothing to deserve even a minute of consideration by the great and merciful God, but here I am, beginning a new chapter in which I am given the opportunity to lead his people in worship.

I am free from the slavery of sin and I am excited. I would love to talk much more than this introduction will allow, so let’s go out for coffee sometime, or even just chat after a service on Sunday. I would love to get to know every one of you!
